this hit me like a load of fucking bricks.
this shit’s sinister, and operates, paradoxically from a place of victimhood, or defeatism. Sure, we’re all reblogging it because it seems inspirational- but what it’s really doing, is feeding into the dangerous Western ideology of the self. Why don’t we say we love ourselves first? Because we’re not crazy sociopaths; we’re raised, I should hope, to be polite, and to relate to others upon being asked what we love. That’s why we all ask one another what we like, because we’re probing each other to relate. This poem, or speech, or spoken word whatever it is, is so asinine, that I’ve no qualms about claiming that anyone who reblogs it is, in some respect, sociopathic; that is unless they’re calling it out on it’s shenanigans. Also, spoken word sux. It all sounds the same.
